The Secret's Out - Joedan Flies Another Kite

Following hard on the heels of the recent award of the BSI Kitemark™ for its fabricated door and window products, Joedan Manufacturing UK Limited has achieved another first. Joedan has developed as a specialist in aluminium since its foundation nearly 25 years ago. Working with fellow Joedan Group company, Architectonics Design, it has been awarded the BSI Kitemark™ for its own aluminium door and window system. This means that the company can provide a choice of 2 kitemarked aluminium systems for installers.

Joedan believes it is the only player in the market offering this choice. As its products also have the police approved ‘Secured by Design’ status, it means that Joedan's fabricator and installer customers can meet the high quality and security standards required by both residential and commercial specifications. Joedan had a total of 28 products tested independently before being able to gain this recognition for the Group's own aluminium door and window system. From being a well-kept secret outside its Gloucestershire base, Joedan says that it is fast gaining a reputation for leading edge products, backed up by a policy of continuous investment.

John Purcaro, the chairman of Joedan Holdings Group, the parent of Joedan Manufacturing, believes that the investments made in the 23 years since he founded the company have ensured that it has survived and prospered in the ups and downs of the market.

‘The BSI Kitemark™ standard that we now have for all our products is recognition for what we have achieved as a result of investments in our manufacturing and design capabilities over the years. We have a significant new product programme for 2008 and plans for the next manufacturing investment are well advanced.’

The new automatic machining and sawing line that was installed last year has enabled the company to produce consistent and accurate results and was designed specifically for Joedan's focus on aluminium products. The supplier of the equipment, FOM Industrie of Italy, quoted that Joedan had ‘the only example of such a production line in the UK’, and the line was ‘one of the most advanced facilities in the world’. Kelvin Ashby, Managing Director, reckons that gaining the Kitemark™ standard would not have been possible without the investment.

‘Since its installation, the machining line investment has proved its worth in terms of quality, accuracy and repeatability.’ said Kelvin, who is also the driving force behind Joedan's achievement of its Kitemark™ and Secured by Design status.

For a long time the Joedan Holdings Group has been a well-kept secret, but it is happy now to be known for its investment as an aluminium specialist.
