Pilkington Ends UK Manufacture of Pyroshield

Pilkington has announced changes in the manufacture and processing its Pilkington Pyroshield™. The changes, which involve the suspension of manufacture of the fire safety product at Watson Street in St Helens and the cessation of its processing at Doncaster, will not affect supply of Pilkington PyroshieldTM to customers.

David Stoker, Commercial Director, Pilkington Building Products UK (pictured right) said; 'We aim to ensure that these changes occur seamlessly with no inconvenience to our customers. The changes allow for tank repairs whilst compensating for changes in the UK glazing market. They follow lengthy consideration and the decision has been made with the needs of our customers and our future business in mind.

'Pilkington is committed to meeting the needs of the UK market and has prepared for these changes by ensuring there is sufficient Pilkington PyroshieldTM available for all of our customers now and for the foreseeable future. Customers requiring market- leading fire safety glass should continue to purchase the product from their existing suppliers.'

Ample levels of stock of all Pilkington PyroshieldTM products have been produced, including Pilkington PyroshieldTM Texture, Pilkington Pyroshield™ Safety Texture, Pilkington PyroshieldTM Clear and Safety Clear, and are available for purchase for the foreseeable future.

Pilkington Pyroshield™ Clear and Safety Clear will continue to be processed at Doncaster until November 2008.
