Specialist Joins Qualicoat

Specialist Coatings Limited is the latest powder coating company to join Qualicoat. Based at Shildon, Co. Durham, the company specialises in coating large architectural sections alongside standard profiles.

Operating within a 40 thousand sq ft premises, which houses a nine stage pre-treatment line, an automatic line with stand alone booths and with a capacity to coat products up to 13 metres long, the company is well placed to undertake any major architectural project.

Allan Mitchell of Specialist Coatings explains the reasons for joining Qualicoat, ‘Our main reasons for attaining Qualicoat approval is to achieve a higher quality standard for our architectural finishes and to give our customers the edge in a very competitive industry. Qualicoat is a standard that approves the complete operation which includes the powder, the pre-treatment chemicals and the process of powder coating, thereby, ensuring a good foundation for us in the marketplace.

‘A further benefit is that our reject rate is significantly reduced when powder coating is applied using the Qualicoat standard, this is due to the stringent testing regimes carried out throughout the process. By attaining the Qualicoat standard our staff are able to quantify our objectives of continuous improvement by constantly striving to provide our customers with the very best of service and technical support.’

Specialist Coatings attended its first meeting as members of Qualicoat in May, Allan commented,’After attending the recent meeting in Newcastle we were impressed by the dedication and knowledge of all those present and were confident that any questions we may have in the future will be answered to both ours and our customer's satisfaction.’
