Four
Contract Wins on the Shard
Four key works packages have been agreed on the Shard
project, which will create Europe's tallest mixed-use building at London
Bridge. Orders are being placed with Stent for piling, Scheldebouw for
facades, Corus/CBUK for steel, and Kone for lifts.
Piling for the 310m high development is now set to begin at the end
of the year following completion of the demolition programme.
Irvine Sellar, chairman of developer Sellar Property Group, said: The
placing of these contracts is in line with the programme and plan we
established at the beginning of this year when the Qatari investor consortium,
comprising Qatar Islamic Bank, QInvest, Qatar National Bank, and Barwa
International, joined us as partners to create this iconic landmark
building.
Bernard Ainsworth, Sellar's project managing director, said: This
is a major milestone in the Shard delivery programme. Intensive discussions
are continuing with a number of other contractors including concrete
and MEP.
