EYG's Latest Regional Base Gets Off to Flying Start

Hull-based EYG Group's latest expansion - a new regional base in South Lincolnshire - has got off to a flying start, the company announced recently.

Within the first few days of trading, sales at the new centre in Spalding had already exceeded expectations and had topped the £30,000 mark.

The company has invested around £500,000 in converting a former car showroom and garage in Commercial Road as part of its expansion into the East Midlands and South Lincolnshire region.

A telesales team and local management are already in place but the company is currently looking to recruit more staff from the Spalding area. Eventually, the centre will employ around 30 people, 10 on site and the rest in the field, bringing the total full-time staff employed by EYG to approximately 360.

The new centre was officially opened by the town's Flower Queen, Katie Morton, who attended along with representatives of Tulip Radio.

Spalding joins other existing EYG centres at Scarborough, Nottingham and Cardiff and the company has not ruled out plans for further bases in the next year or so.

Joint managing director Nick Ward said: ‘Our main areas of operation are Yorkshire, the North East, Lincolnshire, East Midlands, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, London and South Wales and as our share of the market in these regions continues to grow we have to increase our local presence to guarantee a top class service delivery.’

In 2007, the award-winning EYG Group announced record total sales of £21.6m. Sales of conservatories also hit a new peak at £7m while the company continued to increase its share of commercial and public sector contracts.

As Nick said: ‘We are now one of the leading independent providers of conservatories and home improvement packages to the public and glazing solutions to the commercial sector. Recent major contracts have included major housing developments, inner city apartments, student accommodation, office blocks, showrooms and schools.

‘Opening a base in Spalding will not only enable us to improve our delivery to the East Midlands and Lincolnshire region, it will help us to expand our business further south. Sales from the first week or so have been ahead of our initial expectations and the signs are very encouraging.’
