AM Profiles Offers a Sweet Pill

AM Profiles has recently supplied composite windows and curtain wall for one of the first installations in the UK of a complete composite facade. The timber aluminium composites have been installed at the Old Brewery at Pill, near Bristol. The Old Brewery was established 200 years ago and recently has undergone extensive renovation to create modern and efficient offices. Designed by Bristol architects Horth, the project has been sympathetically completed using an extensive amount of reclaimed materials of a similar age in order to keep both costs down and reduce carbon footprint.

The final phase of the project used two complimentary products designed and supplied by AM Profiles, a timber framed aluminium clad curtain wall system and 'Design-5' a timber framed aluminium clad window system. Chosen for its natural integration within the concept of the building and its slender sight lines the curtain walling mullions are only 56mm wide and 160mm in depth so provide a fine balance between the buildings visual and structural requirements.

Specifiers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of using sustainable timber products coupled with aluminium which together offers excellent weathering resistance whilst maintaining excellent insulation. The client and project manager, Tom Walker of Import Export Services, reported that the project had created the "wow factor" as this was the tenant's first impression upon seeing the completed installation.

John Horth Principal Architect of Horth Architects explains, 'As a member of The Green Register, which is an independent self-funded organisation whose principal goal is to promote sustainable building practices across all disciplines of the construction industry, I felt it necessary to create an open workspace but with the most environmentally friendly products available. The choice of composite aluminium/timber products from AM Profiles Ltd ensured this criteria was upheld.'

Alistair McBain, MD of AM Profiles explains, 'We have seen a significant increase in enquiries for our aluminium timber composite window and door products over the last year and we felt it vital to be able to offer a wide range of systems in composite form to meet specifiers requirements. We now have a complete range - including curtain wall - available and the Old Brewery project is one of the first of many that we have in production at the moment.'

AM Profiles designs, manufactures and installs a range of products all manufactured in Chesterfield for the UK market, consequently lead times are very competitive compared to imported products. For more information go to the company's website at www.amprofiles.com or phone 01246 856000
