Sapa's
New Unitised Curtain Walling Flies through Tests
Sapa Building Systems' newly launched Elegance 72 Unitised Curtain Walling
System has flown through its weather testing, recording some of the
best results ever seen at Taylor Woodrow Technology Centre.
The
testing programme followed CWCT Test Sequence A (static), B (dynamic)
and BS/EN 13830 testing. Elegance 72 achieved highly impressive air
and wind resistance figures. However, it was the water penetration testing
that really underlined how well the system performs. Whilst testing
to BS EN 13830, water pressure was increased progressively from 750pa
right up to 1500pa with no leakage occurring, establishing a record
for the Test Centre and proving Elegance 72's suitability for projects
in highly exposed locations.
The rising demand for offsite construction and factory controlled assembly
led to the development of Elegance 72, a unitised system which combines
all the benefits and aesthetic options of Sapa's Elegance 52 curtain
walling system with the facility for off-site manufacture. Following
factory assembly and glazing, complete panels can be shipped direct
to site with contractors assured of rapid installation and high levels
of quality control.
Graham Hurrell, Director of Specification Sales, commented: No
single fenestration solution suits all applications. What we've achieved
with Elegance Curtain Walling is a system that offers a range of design
variants that allow specifiers to create bespoke building facades from
standard profiles. The addition of Elegance 72 to the range means that
we can now offer a highly cost-effective, high performance alternative
to traditional on-site construction which, for some projects, is essential.
